About The DFW Museum Meetup Group

The creation of art is not the fulfillment of a need but the creation of a need. The world never needed Beethoven's Fifth Symphony until he created it. Now we could not live without it. -- Louis I Kahn (Architect)

The DFW Museum Meetup Group is about stretching our minds and having fun with other arts and culture lovers. We know people are busy, so please feel free to attend as many or as few events as you have time for.

There is no "should" in art, because art is free. -- Vassily Kandinsky (painter)

Alas, although there is no "should" in art, there are a few "shoulds" in social life! Since we don't know each other personally, please follow the few simple rules of courtesy below to make our group enjoyable for everyone!

It happens that your organizers are fans of Miss Manners. wink

THE DFW MUSEUM RULES AND POLICIES:

  • RULE #1: HONOR YOUR WORD. If you respond Yes, please do your best to show up, or change your RSVP at least a day before the event (preferably further ahead). This is infinitely helpful to your organizers.

  • WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE LATE OR HAVE A LAST-MINUTE CANCELLATION: If you find at the last minute that you can't come or are running late, please CALL the organizer for that particular event to let her know. The organizer for each event is responsible for sending out her cell phone information, usually the day before the event. PLEASE DO CALL THE ORGANIZER'S CELL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO FIND THE GROUP OR THERE ARE CHANGES IN YOUR PLANS! This will let us know whether we need to wait for you or can proceed into the museum.

  • WHAT HAPPENS TO HABITUAL NO-SHOWS: No shows are no fun! After 3 NO SHOWS (without contacting the organizer) your membership will be deleted/removed from the group to make room for members who are more fun! SO, if you RSVP "YES" to an event and find that you cannot come and have no way to get in touch with the organizer, please contact the organizer after the event to let her know, so she will not count you as a no-show. It is always a safe bet to RSVP Maybe if you are unsure whether you will be able to make it. A Maybe will not count against you. However, some organizers in this group do not allow "Maybe" RSVP's.

  • HOW CAN WE FIND EACH OTHER? Upon joining, please include a current picture of yourself. If you do not post a picture, your organizers will not have any clue to what you look like. We could be standing or sitting next to you and never know who you are or if you even attended the event.

  • GIVE US YOUR FEEDBACK: Once you have attended an event, please try to fill out your "How was the event" survey as a way to let us know how the event went, what needs to be imporved, what works and what does not work. Remember as members, it is you who make the meetup events take shape and come alive.

  • DONATIONS: The head organizer pays Meetup a subscription fee. The DFW Museum Meetup is run via voluntary donations. Our suggested donation is $1.00 per active member per year, which you can give directly to the Organizer at the meetup or which can be paid via Paypal. Donations are not tracked, but are appreciated.

Remember that all your organizers put their own time, effort and sometimes money into organizing events not only for themselves, but to open opportunities for others.

Thanks you for your interest and enthusiasm in keeping this group alive!
