Get out of London for the day and come and explore the old towns of Eton & Windsor!

Places to explore in Eton are: Eton College, founded in 1440 by King Henry VI, is one of the oldest schools in the country. Entry is £4.20, to view the School Yard, College Chapel, The Cloisters, and the Museum of Eton Life. Their are also many historic buildings on Eton high street.

In Windsor old town, on Church Street there a plaque recording the execution warrant for Charles I in 1648. The building is said to be the place where Shakespeare wrote "The Merry Wives of Windsor".
Also their is the house of Nell Gwynne, favourite mistress of Charles II.

Next to the Crooked House Tea Rooms, you will find Queen Charlotte Street, the shortest street in Britain.

The Guildhall nearby was built by Sir Christopher Wren (architect of St Paul's Cathedral in London) in 1690. Entry to the Guildhall is free.

The aim is to get the 10:58am train from Waterloo to Windsor & Eton Riverside, the return ticket is £8.20 (www.thetrainline.com), if you wish to purchase in advance, please do so as it might cost slightly more on the day.

This was my first meetup. I really enjoyed the day and the group were really friendly. Looking forward to the next meetup.
    •  Great day out, lovely weather and very interesting, definately go again. Thanks Robert for organising it so well.
    •  It was really nice to meet some new people, and the group was friendly and welcoming. I found the trip itself though a little unstructured, and went off with another person to do the tour of Windsor Castle, which turned out to be perfect because it wasn't crowded and we got in for half-price. Also it may have been an idea to brief the whole group on what was going on, as that didn't get through to everyone. Other than that, it was good, thanks, and a good choice of venue and day trip. The research for the trains and meeting place was spot-on.
