The Setagaya Art Museum's exhibit of modern Mexican art is called "THE ROAD TO MODERNISM." About 70 artworks on show, including some by Diego Rivera, David Siqueiros and Frida Kahlo. Tokyo doesn't get many large exhibits of modern art from Latin American countries, so for those who are interested it's an opportunity. The show's been put on to mark 400 years of cultural ties between Mexico and Japan.
MEETING PLACE/TIME: Just outside the North Exit of YOGA station on the TOKYU DEN-EN-TOSHI LINE, on AUG 2 (SUNDAY) at 3 P.M. From there, the group will take a bus to the museum.
COST: 1,200 yen on the day.
DIRECTIONS:
From Shibuya, take the local TOKYU DEN-EN-TOSHI LINE train to YOGA station. From Shibuya, Yoga is the FIFTH station on the local train and getting to Yoga should take 10-15 minutes. Take care at Shibuya that you board the local train, not the express, because the express doesn't stop at Yoga.
Get off at Yoga station and go out the NORTH EXIT. We'll meet just outside that exit on Aug. 2, Sunday, at 3 p.m. and board the 3:05 bus together. (Promptness will be appreciated, as the next bus won't come til 40 minutes later.) The bus to the museum should take 15-20 minutes. If you can't get to the north exit of Yoga station by 3:00 p.m., call Jeff at 090-9240-0814; if you miss the 3:05 bus, you may need to take a taxi from the station, if you can find one.
IF YOU'RE USING THE ODAKYU LINE, ETC.:
For anyone who wants to proceed to the museum on their own, using an alternative route like the Odakyu line and bus, could you plan to meet up with our group inside the museum lobby at 3:30 p.m. We should be there by then.
AFTERWARD:
The group will spend at least an hour and a half at the museum. Afterward, we'll either stop at the cafe inside the museum, return to Yoga station to a cafe/restaurant there, or head off with Tatsuya to a restaurant of his choice.
